May close other programs in Windows OS while runnning RHEL to save RAM
Navigate to Oracle VirtualBox --> Download --> Windows hosts
Windows OS is used in following knowledge base articles.
Click the Oracle VirtualBox Installer exe.
Open Oracle VirtualBox
Click New
Section <Virtual machine name and operating system>
VM Name [Exp: RHCSA]
ISO Image [RHEL ISO pathm, Exp: C:\..\rhel-10.0-x86_64-boot.iso]
Section <Set up unattended guest OS installation>
User Name [Exp: student]
Password [Exp: password]
Section <Specify virtual hardware>
Base Memory 4096 MB (Can change it later if needed)
Number of CPUs 2
Section <Specify virtual hard disk>
Disk Size 25GB
Click Finish
Maximise Oracle VirtualBox window size
Press Ctrl (or another key, refer to bottom right) to switch control between Windows OS and RHEL OS
Select Install Red Hat Enterprise Linux [Version] then press Enter
Exp: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10.0
Select language --> Continue
May use Tab or Arrow Key, then press Enter if the mouse doesn't control well.
Beware on English (United States) keyboard or English (United Kingdom) keyboard.
If select wrong keyboard, the symbol will be different.
Exp: When key in <@>, RHEL will receved as <">
Click Connect to Red Hat
Select Account --> Register --> Done
Register by using username and password in Red Hat Developers | Red Hat Developer
Select Software Selection --> Server with GUI --> Done
Select Installation Destination --> Disk under Local Standard Disk --> Done
Select User Creation
Full name [Exp: student]
Password [Exp: password]
Select Done
If password fails dictionary check, need to press Done twice.
Select Begin Installation
After Installation done, click Reboot System.
Login by using account in Step 2.4 Set Up RHEL OS --> 5. Select User Creation
Open Terminal
Type ping 8.8.8.8
Press Ctrl + C to stop the ping
If the host key is Ctrl (refer to the bottom right), the ping connection won't be stopped.
To change shortcut key,
Right click bottom right
Click Input --> Host Ket Combo
Click Eraser icon to remove current host key
Click another host key, exp: Alt
Click OK
Shutdown RHEL
Select VM (Virtual Machine) in Oracle VirtualBox window.
Click Settings --> System --> Motherboard tab
Adjust Base Memory
Click OK
