Fuse rating is the curve line in time/current characteristics figure.
From Figure 1, the curve line (5A, 15A, 20A, 30A, 45A, 60A, 80A, 100A) shows available fuse rating.
15A fuse is selected because it equal to continuous current = 15A (DC).
Surge/shorted current = X-axis (Prospective current, A)
Maximum time duration = Y-axis (Time, s)
The fuse will blow if a surge current of 40 A flows through it for longer than 10s.
Maximum current that won't cause fuse blow all the time = X-axis (Prospective current, A) which not intersect with curve line
The fuse will not blow all the time if the current less than red line, example 20 A.
